Auto Focus System AFS
The Nikon D3500 has got 11 focus points, which are represented by tiny rectangles like structure on the viewfinder. The Auto focus area mode setting determines which of the chosen 11 AF points the camera has to use to set the focusing distance of the image. The AutoFocus area mode setting orders the Nikon D3500 which AF points to consider when establishing focus on the image.
If we look at the size of the camera, it weighs around 415g only. It’s not just the cheapest or affordable camera but its also a lightest camera in the market. It also comes with lightest 18-55mm AF-P kit lens to make it portable and handy.
If we talk about build quality, then the build quality is pretty good. In terms of material used they seem quite similar. Firstly, the deeper, more streamlined grip is much easier to hold and carry . The outdated version always felt… odd. Like it wasn’t made for human hands. It’s very hard to describe, but if you have a chance to hold, you’ll know what I mean.Secondly, the grip material is now more identical to that of Nikon’s other DSLRs camera , rather than the strange plastic grip used on the earlier D3000-series cameras. The D3500 still isn’t up to the standard of, those Nikon’s pro DSLRs, but it has improved it significantly.
Many of photographers look for microphone in DLSR cameras. In entry level DLSR cameras, this is the main thing that misses out in the Nikon D3500. In Nikon D3500 there is no option of microphone input also. So, if you are planning to add external microphone to the camera, then it will not work with Nikon D3500.
It is powered with the Nikon EN-EL14a, which is a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery pack. Lithium-Ion batteries offer a high energy density and low self-discharge, and are nowadays found in many portable devices. The number of shots that one can get out of a battery pack depends heavily upon the style and imaging practices & use . For example, the heavy use of the LCD screen for framing or reviewing images will result in reduced battery life.
